Artwork for “A Little Wicked” by Cathrine Liberg, single out on Monday!

One of my best friends, Cathrine, made this artwork in her studio in Norway. In her own words, “I sought to capture the song’s many changes in pace and dynamic by using bold, undulating lines which twist and turn in every direction. I envisioned the protagonist as a dark cloud or surge, growing steadily and slowly encircling you. In order to achieve the desired effect, I created the image using lithography. This is a two hundred year old printmaking technique, in which the image is drawn on a limestone and then printed. Using a fluid, lithographic ink and a hairdryer, I was able to control the directions in which the ink dried, steering it around like a wave. The shape emerged much on its own, also bearing with it associations to a heart or an organ.”
